Anomalous Materials

INSTRUMENTAL I came back from the dead in a wooded glen I started a new life said goodbye to old friends Locked myself in the basement Sliced my stomach open Put myself back together just to find nothin' was broken Bells rang all around me The forest began to sing Smashed my smartphone on a rock and threw my shoe at Steve Tried to write some new songs but they all sounded out of key So I threw them all in a blender closed my eyes, and pushed 'puree' So now Wait...now? Okay.... Now! Now is the time! The time to live while the leaves are dyin' I obsessed o'er the crunch underneath when I came to, I'd bought a drum machine Dreaming of rebirth by rhythm Wilderness turned to steel and I could only feel the city's cold Tearing up the pavement and realizing I'm old I come a long way from the Land 'O Nod and one day I will return But the joy is in the journey is a pearl of wisdom I have learned Treading through uncharted waters Sailing farther than your fathers When treading uncharted waters don't forget where your heart is INSTRUMENTAL The black hole of the future stared me in the face Unchained from the shackles of a past that I longed to escape I paddled against the current Graduated at the top As I passed the event horizon I was spaghetti without the sauce But now I don't get upset when I see the leaves fallin' For I know that through their death the ground I walk will be more solid And though leaves in the city may end trapped in concrete hell Their colour in the gutter is the rose I stop to smell Oh, oh yeah Oooh, we're goin' home! You lie in your crypt Waiting for light to return Your soul feels sick From the weight of the Earth Recapture the high That led you to these depths One day you'll fly Right over our heads Keep seeking the truth Extend your time a little longer Your age is no proof Goddammit, it's only a number But the incantations fail to restore me from the ailments So I'll drift along the shore until I find a safer haven And the spells we used to cast have been forgotten But that light still slips on thru the cracks in my coffin INSTRUMENTAL And those spells we used to cast have been forgotten But that light still slips thru the cracks in my coffin And the spells we used to cast have been forgotten But that light still slips thru the cracks in my coffin

We, we have fallen From the skies where we used to soar And the birds don't know where they're goin' Anymore, anymore But we, we will rise again when the cities have rusted and grown cold When we sail over those darkened buildings There will be a peace that flows We will rise Again, into the skies INSTRUMENTAL

A sun is setting I'm done regretting what's been done giving zero f***s about the situation constrained and restricted no more In a season of solitude No constants or anchors to keep you glued Mercury in Retrograde, the Earth is a lonely place some days but that's Life in Flux, Life in Flux It's always changing so don't get frustrated, don't give up Tomorrow brings new things and those things will bring you luck Just remember in the now, Life's in Flux Life is a metaphor I hear the songbirds sing I cast a wide net When I go fishing Imitators are all we are Like light rays bouncing from star to star Shed your chrysalis! Grow some wings!! I stand on giants' shoulders, and from there I sing Life in Flux, Life in Flux Don't be afraid to break yourself down and build it back up Your dreams may seem out of reach, but they're in touch For in the hardest moments, We're in Flux INSTRUMENTAL "Oh-oh-ohhh-oh ah ah Life in Flux, don't be afraid to RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE cos you've gotta wake up sometime…." I'm learning how to be more patient Now that I'm disconnected from the Matrix No longer bound to space and time No longer in need of <INSERT RHYMING WORD HERE> I relinquish control of being pigeon-holed In a strange city Grasping at the moon Wrestling with my sanity, but don't let go! Life's in Flux, Life's in Flux!! It's always changing so don't get frustrated, don't give up! Tomorrow springs new things and those things will bring you luck Just remember in this moment, You're in Flux INSTRUMENTAL

about

Eight years in the making, Liam King's fourth full-length LP has arrived. A wild, experimental ride from start to finish, Anomalous Materials sounds like nothing LK has put out before, but very much his sound. Lovingly crafted with guitars, synthesizers, drum machine and more, the songs are a mix of short instrumental pieces and longer audio explorations with some traditional vocal-based songs. At times ambient, post-punk, electronic, acoustic, industrial, rhythmic, lo-fi, and psychedelic, the materials contained within certainly are anomalous--though not without their charm. Bolstered by production sounding like something from the analog tape era but sonically in the future, the 17 tracks splay LK's vision in a beautifully fragmented way, yet with the precision of a laser.

I want to be Buckaroo Banzai when I grow up.

In the meantime, I make a variety of weirdly personal & experimental music, and enjoy doing so. I hope you enjoy it too! :)
